The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) was founded in 1933 and provides advocacy and education on musculoskeletal medicine to orthopedic surgeons and other orthopedic professionals. The American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, founded by the Academy’s Board, was formed to serve as an advocate on behalf of musculoskeletal patients and professionals in the field. The AAOS, under both domains, is committed to excellence, professionalism, leadership, collegiality and lifelong learning always focused on keeping the world moving through the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
