The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is one of the largest professional and fundraising organizations with the mission of understanding, treating and eventually eradicating cancer. The association includes research scientists, physicians, laboratory professionals and public outreach experts who work to conquer cancer through innovative research, collaboration, exchange of knowledge, raising public awareness, and implementing patient-focused treatment initiatives. The AACR was founded in 1907 as a group of only 11 physicians, and now has over 34,000 scientist members. The AACR sponsors the well-known Stand Up to CancerĀ® event and holds an annual meeting every April to give researchers the chance to learn about cutting-edge scientific advances, make professional connections and share their own clinical discoveries.
