The American Institute of Chemical Engineering (ALChE) is known as the “Global Home of Chemical Engineers” representing over 45,000 members from over 100 countries. The AIChE’s goal is to provide value to the profession for a lifetime of growth to act as the foremost catalyst in applying chemical engineering expertise to meet societal needs. The non-profit organization, founded in 1908, supports chemical engineers across a wide variety of fields including medical applications, such as stem cells, synthetic biology, pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, and nanotechnology. Their website includes content to explore, including webinars, articles, and technical presentations to further your expertise, as well as a vast online community and access to events and meetings. The American Institute of Chemical Engineering hosts a variety of conferences every year, including the AIChE Annual Meeting (every November), as well as a Metabolic Engineering conference and other specialized topical conferences such as SEED (Synthetic Biology: Engineering, Evolution and Design).
